Aluminum alloys are widely used in the daily production and daily life. They can be produced by extruded method, which saves metal and has a high production efficiency. Spread extrusion is suitable for extrusion width of aluminum alloys greater than extrusion diameter, and this new extrusion method partly replaces the complex and high-cost flat container extrusion method, suitable for many domestic small and medium sized aluminum processing plants. At present, the design of spread extrusion die is carried out by experience and repeated test, which will cause a lot of manpower and material consumption, while difficult to get satisfactory results. With the development of computer technology, CAD/CAE technology in mold design and manufacturing industry have been widely used. In this paper, the author respectively extrudes FR029, flat sections and hollow thin wall aluminum alloys by extrusion process simulation and optimization of die structure, and identifies defects in aluminum extrusion process and die design, which can provide parameters for the actual production process and die design and solve problems in the real production.About FR029 aluminum extrusion die Parameter Optimization of spread, Firstly,Using Pro/E software to modify parameters required optimization. establishing the geometric model data base through the geometric parameter. The FEM software-DEFORM-3D software is used to simulate the extrusion process. the Z-velocity at the die land exit is used as the target value of the optimizing model. The BP neural network is established on the base of MATLAB software, and then The neural network is trained by the above numerical simulation result to form knowledge source. The equation of the design variable and target value resulted from the approaching of the regression analysis is used as the fitness function of the genetic algorithm, then the optimized data of the dies are obtained by using the genetic algorithm. Finally, the optimization designing variable data are verified by using numerical simulation technology. As FR029 aluminum spread extrusion die design parameters;and compared with the designing variable defined by the experience method about their impact on the metal flowing uniformity.Aiming at visible defects such as slag, organization streak after oxidation when a domestic plant produces flat profile, we adopt Deform-3D finite element software to simulate extrusion force peak, extrusion speed and extrusion metal flow on the extrusion process three sets of wide-spread extrusion die, then analyze the causes of defects, and propose solutions or improvement suggestions, finally use finite element numerical simulation to verify the proposed improvement program, and at the same time, through simulation analysis, we can determine the optimal structure of a mold die from three sets.
