The application of the hydrostatic guideway becomes wider and wider in the heavyand ultra-precision machine tools. The restrictor, the pressure compensation component ofthe hydrostatic guideway, can improve the bearing capacity of the hydrostatic guideway.The oil film of the hydrostatic guideway adjusted by traditional restrictor such as capillary,orifices and film restrictors, is decreased sharply as the increases of the external load. Itcan not be realize automatical compensation and reduce the actual application results. Sothe research of new restrictor has important practical significance on improving theperformance of the hydrostatic guideway.This paper mainly focuses on the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation of thenew single-side film throttle—PM flow controller, represents deep research on theinfluence of the PM controller’s design parameters to the static and dynamiccharacteristics of the hydrostatic guideway, and provides a theoretical basis of the actualdesign of the hydrostatic guidewayThe main research content of this article is represented as follows:(1)By analyzing the force of a machine beam, the force formula of the oil chamber isdeduced. The external load of the oil chamber under extreme working conditions iscalculated.(2)Static characteristics analysis formulae of the hydrostatic guideway based on PMflow controller have been deduced. The comparison with the hydrostatic guidewayadjusted by the speed control valve is made on the static performance such as the gap,pressure, flow, stiffness, and bearing capacity.(3)The nonlinear differential equation systems on the pressure and the flow of theopen-type and closed-type hydrostatic guideway based on PM flow controller are derived.The open-type hydrostatic bearing system is linearized. The response curves of hydrostaticbearing system with and without linearization are compared and analyzed. The proposedresearch provides a theoretical basis for the linearization of hydrostatic guideway systemadjusted by PM flow Controller. (4)The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the influence of PM controller designparameters on the static and dynamic performance of hydrostatic guideway system ismade. The PM controller parameter values with excellent static and dynamic performanceis got by mean of the optimization analysis.
