As extension of time and space of cities, lighting has expanded the landscape expression of Modern urban, whose development reveals the economic growth and improvement of people’s living standard. However, problems arises in that some people seek over-lighting, decorative instead of functional lighting, random use of lighting, and blind imitation of symbolic lighting. Over-lighting by right street lights, splendid neon lights and laser lighting made the stars hardly visible. Insects, birds, plants and even human beings had their life greatly affected, making light pollution a new academic focus for the academic and sphere and the field of lighting management.The paper seeks to study light pollution in urban area during the night. It will analyze the harms light pollution brings for the bio-sphere, social life and urban environment, and define the scope for its influence, its characteristics and the major way for its presentation. In order to apply to the aesthetics of Urban night scene, lighting shall take into account the brightness, humanistic concerns, environmental psychology, urban aesthetics and biology. The paper, through analyzing the problem of light pollution, studied the aesthetic relationship between night landscape and urban life, further analyzed the situation and reason of light pollution. With foreign researches as a reference, the paper proposed several solutions to reduce light pollution through general planing, careful engineering and landscape programming, The paper focuses on the hope to find a reasonable yet practical strategy.The author argues that the general goal of urban lighting, is not to reproduce what was it during the day, but a process of remodeling during the night. In order to have sustainable development, the city shall promote“low-carbon”lighting, which focus on the lighting functions, and aims at reducing light pollution, as well as create a safe, comfortable, beautiful urban landscape, which calls for the common effort of policy makers, designers, constructors and ordinary urban residents.
