By means of morphology study on Coniogramme Fee specimens, the variation pattern of their key characteristics was discussed and their taxonomic significance was evaluated mainly in this paper. The taxonomic revision of the genus Coniogramme Fee was conducted combining with the palynology analysis.1. Based on research of nearly2000specimens, the morphology characters of Coniogramme Fee were comprehensively analyzed. The taxonomic characters of Coniogramme Fee are mainly about their leaves. To be specific, the significant taxonomic characters are those of leaf type, hydathode and appendant. However, according to this paper some further conclusions were found. The conclusions are as follows:the leaf blade variation of each species should be taken into account as it may be considerable under different geographical and environmental conditions; the hydathode location should be divided into three categories, that is, far from the tooth base, reaching/extending into the tooth, or even fusing with the cartilaginous tooth margin; the hair is very important for the taxonomy. Furthermore, the research also found that pinnate, petiole color and type of leaf top or base were significant for the taxonomy too. Therefore, the morphology variation of each species should be fully considered and instead of relying on a few individual characters, an overall consideration of varieties of characters is necessary.2. Spores of15species of the genus Coniogramme Fee were observed under SEM, concluding that their polar view was obtuse triangle with sight concave of three sides and their equatorial view was semicircle with accordant corrugation on the surface. Spore shapes had little significance for the taxonomy of the genus Coniogramme Fee, so morphology was taken into consideration primarily.3. The taxonomic revision of the genus Coniogramme Fee was conducted after literature researching and specimen observing, and the retrieve table of the genus Coniogramme Fee was concluded, dividing the genus in China into19species and3varietas. In this paper,30taxonomic names were reduced to synonyms. The legal taxonomic name of Coniogramme merrillii Ching is qualified instead of C. macrophylla (Blume) Hieron. The legal taxonomic name of Coniogramme caudata (Ettingsh.) Ching is qualified instead of C. pubescens Hieron. The legal taxonomic name of Coniogramme simplicior Shing ex Ching is qualified instead of C. fauriei Hieron.
