The structural prototype measurement is a way that the load and response information is measured on a real structure. This way don’t have the problem of similarity in reduced-scale models experiment, so it is obtained more and more applications in the measurement of engineering structures. As a complex and huge engineering structure, floating platform has gradually improved in structural design technology and theory in a long period of time. However, in the extreme of marine condition, the design of floating platform still can’t meet the requirements of the economy and security due to the immature theory. It can’t satisfy the analysis and design requirements of floating platform structure by model experiments and numerical simulation, so we try to seek a better method to solve this problem. Using floating platform which is serviced for prototype measurement can obtain the real load and response information of the structure. So it is got more and more attention currently.In this paper, prototype measurement and monitoring technology is researched, abstracting the floating platform for a generally large engineering structure. Based on the technical route of the prototype measurement research, the article mainly discusses the prototype measurement contents and methods for floating platform. Through the analysis of structural failure, the physical quantities that need to be measured are determined to guide the design and analysis for floating platform structure. The research for prototype measurement method aims to choose a suitable measurement method for the physical quantity. In order to ensure the accuracy of field measurement, we need to do testing experiment in the laboratory. For prototype measurement of floating offshore, in order to make it possible, we developed some monitoring technology, including underwater measurement technology, integrated monitoring technology and independent remote monitoring technology. The results of the prototype measurement used in the two kind of typical floating platform in our country is given at the end of the article, indicating that the monitoring technology for the prototype measurement of floating offshore platform is successful.
