Research Of Wetland Vegetation Resources&Conservation And Restoration Planning Of Wetland In Jiangyin City

Jiangyin city locates in the riverside area between Yangtze River and Taihu Lake, rich in wetland resources which are very important natural resources as well as an ecological and strategic base for the sustainable development of society.According to the actual research of the wetland resources in Jiangyin, there are99.033km2wetland in the city(except for the rice paddies), accounting for12.9%of the territory of the city, of that, natural wetland (including riverine wetland、swamp) is67.544km2, representing68.2%of total wetland and6.87%of the territory of the city; and the artificial wetland is34.189km2, representing31.8%of the total wetland and3.2%of the territory of the city.Jiang yin, a relatively small city, has three classes and six forms of wetland, and each type is highly connected to another, of which riverine wetland is the most typical, mainly confined to the Yangzi river region and the low watery river region in the south part of Jiangyin.The problems of the management of the wetland in Jiangyin are as below:1) great misuse of the wetland;2)severe eutrophication caused by increasing pollution of the wetland;3)the decrease of the wetland biodiversity;4) retrogression of the ecological functions of the wetland.Main reasons are:1) management system of the wetland is not sound enough;2) the awareness of the protection is weak, and only19.4%of the natural wetland resource is protected;3)Industrial Pollution is beyond of the self cleaning capacity of the wetland;4) atrophy of wetland area caused by misuse of wetland.According to the ecological function and distribution characteristics of wetland in Jiangyin, The wetland of Jiangyin city is divided into three functional blocks: Drinking water source, river corridor wetland and the south of Jiangyin River Wetland. Based on the division of three functional blocks and the problems of existing situation and protection of wetland resources in Jiangyin, the system of wetland conservation and restoration in Jiangyin City has been established at the premise of sustainable utilization and conservation of the wetland.Wetland conservation system in Jiangyin City includes the construction of wetland parks, wetland conservation area and wetland resources database ect. Wetland restoration system includes projects of ecological restoration of the backbone river which flow into Yangzi River, the restoration of plain river network and rural River and rural ditch ecological interception. The construction of system of wetland management capabilities include construction of wetland management mechanism, wetland monitoring system and awareness&training system.Establishing wetlands conservation system and wetland restoration system in Jiangyin is in expectation of inhibiting wetlands reduction and the deterioration of the ecological function of wetlands from the roots, moreover, to guarantee the stable development of the ecosystem of wetland and the sustainable development of the local economy.
