As the development and utilization of new energy sources, hydrogen is considered to bethe most promising clean energy. Cellulosic energy is widely distributed on Earth, but didnot take suffice utilization. Microbial dark fermentation for hydrogen-producing has lotsof advantages. This raction can happened on any time and place and it is not constrainton the sun and other natural factors. If we can get a microbial can use fiber resources andits fermentative production is hydrogen, that will be significative. Exploring newhydrogen-producing bacterium is an important research topic. This paper has investigatedthe thermophilic anaerobic microorganism from Changbai Mountains’ hot spring and wehope to get a hydrogen-producing bacterium. In this thesis, a rapid screening method forscreening high-temperature hydrogen-producing bacteria has been introduced. A novelthermophilic bacterium, strain CBS-ZT, was isolated from a terrestrial hot spring of theChangbai Mountains, China.16S rRNA gene sequence homologous alignment andphylogeny analysis indicated the isolate belong to the genus Caldicellulosiruptor CBS-ZT(=CGMCC1.5180). Hydrogen conversion rate of the bacteria8.33mmolH2/gVS and themaximum hydrogen production rate for43.4mLH2/h L using0.5%cellulose assubstrate.
