A bacterium with high chitinase activity was isolated from soil, after 48 hour's fermentation, the chitinase activity of the fermentation liquid hit 110U/mL. After identification on its character of capability of consuming carbon-based nutrition by Biolog auto bacteria identification system, this bacterium with high chitinase activity is decided as a subspecies of Serratia marcescens. A further identification concerning its cell shape and the property of cell community confirm the former result. A new bacteria pesticide is made by mix this bacterium with Pseudomonas pseudoaligenes at the ratio of 1 to 1, the mixed pesticide indicates higher effect than solo Pseudomonas pseudoaligenes in locust biocontrol. This paper reported the research on the combination of Serratia marcescens and Pseudomonas pseudoaligenes in the locust biocontrol for the first time.
