The oceans cover the71%of the earth’s surface, which is very important forpeople’s development and humanity history. The marine science is a rapidlydeveloping emerging science, which is one of the major contemporary disciplines.With the development of human society, marine science is developing at anunprecedented rate. In the other side, the development of marine science deepens theunderstanding of the ocean. It also is a strong impetus to the use of the oceans to alarger scale and more rational development.The marine science task is to make use of field observations, physicalexperiments and numerical and experimental means to study the structure andfunction of this system, in order to understand the ocean, suggest the laws, serve thehumanity, and ensure sustainable development. Ocean observing instruments andtechnical equipment plays an important role in marine science research. Therefore, wecan make great efforts to develop ocean observing instruments and technicalequipment, in order to obtain the required large number of oceanographic data, andpromote the development of marine science. The small-scale ocean data buoy isdeveloped by the Ocean University of China. It won the recognition of the vastnumber of marine workers, and become one of the main means of monitoring themarine environment and marine disaster forecasting.This paper is based on these projects: First, the buoy project is funded by thenational863project. Second, the the SZF multifunctional wave buoy is finished bythe Ocean University of China and the China East Sea Branch of State OceanicAdministration. This paper introduces the wave sensor system, the composition of thevarious components, the device selection criteria. It includes the programming ofsoftware and the design of hardware circuit.The small ocean data buoy is very small,light,long-working. It is easy to put inthe ocean and difficult to damage. In this paper,it introduce a low power, small size,low-cost data acquisition system. Firstly, it describe the principles and methods ofdata collection such as waves. Secondly, it introduces the meteorological motherboarddesign ideas, the hardware circuit and the C language program in meteorologymotherboard data acquisition and processing. According to the requirements of thesystem, the hardware circuit selected AT80C51microcontroller as the main controlchip, the various functions of the IC chip module, such as real-time calendar clock chip serial communication module, and AD data conversion module. The papermainly introduces the circuit design of the meteorological motherboard hardware, andthe software programing writing.In the six months of the test run, the buoy system passes a series of tests. Itreachs the requirements in the data acquisition, processing and transmission. The dataprocessing results are real and reliable, and the data reception is accurate. The systemhas a very good using prospect.
