Typhoons are tropical cyclones which reach a certain intensity. The surge causedby typhoon has great influence on the coastal and ocean engineering. So, long timeseries data analysis, and typho waves simulation, have a important guiding sense tothe the coastal planning and ocean engineering protection, especially in the offshorearea of China. This paper counts and analyzes the distributional characteristics of typhoon overthe East China Sea during1949and2010, with the information of typhoon providedby CMA-STI Best Track Dataset for Tropical Cyclones over the Western NorthPacific. The statistics show that there is no typhoon happened in January, Februaryand March, and most typhoons happen in July, August and September. In the space, the possibility and level of the typhoon gradually increase from northwest tosoutheast. In this paper, pressure is calculated with Takahashi and Fujita.T. formula, and thecomputational results are used to calculate typhoon wind. Finally, typhoon wave issimulated with SWAN model. Simulation results are consistent well with the buoydata. According to the simulation results, this paper analyzes the distributionalcharacter of typhoon waves in the East China Sea. At last, bassed on the simulationresults of typhoon No.9503, this paper analyzes the distributional character oftyphoon waves in one typhoon process.
