Isoseismal information is very important in earthquake disasterassessment.This paper managed the isoseismal data of last hundred yearsby the latest ArcGIS9.3software and established seismic intensityattenuation information query system based on GIS.This work can providethe basis for earthquake disaster evaluation and seismic risk analysis.The main content of this paper is as follows:(1)The overall design is described in detail and the main function wewant to achieve has been discussed.Two spatial data models,vector and gridhave been made a comparison.The design thought of geographic datadasehas been put forward.Based on the seismic intensity database informationsystem construction in this paper,we used raster data structure to describethe isoseismal map and vector data structure to describe seismic lines andintensity areas.(2)This paper introduced the ArcGIS coordinate system and projectiontype. The earthquake intensity isoseismal digital process has been studied.Asthe scale of the236isoseismal data we entried has a large difference.weadopted the coordinate system,using latitude and longtitude forprojection.This work can make a convenient for measuring and drawing thecomprehensive isoseismal map.According to the earthquake intensityisoseismal map we have collected,we draw a nationwide comprehensiveisoseismal map which will provide a basis for seismic risk analysis andEngineering seismology research.(3) In view of the intensity isoseismal database established,wedeveloped a GIS based query system.This system can realize the queryfunction of the spatial location,magnitude,casualty and economic loss.Wedemonstrate the query function,confirming that the system is simple andfeasible.At the end,we summarized the research work and made a prospectof the future work.The design earthquake intensity isoseismal query system has thesemajor advantages:New data:The intensity isoseismal data sources of this paper includethe latest earthquake disaster loss evaluation assembly.Whereby the drawingof the nationalwide comprehensive isoseimal map can provide a basis forintensity zoning. Seamless Delivery:This system provides a wide range of Query options.It is convenient to carry out the work of earthquake damageassessment.Convenience to expand:This system is a modular form ofdevelopment. And we can add new data to the intensity isoseismal databaseto make a supplement.We can also add new modulars to achieve morefunctions.
