The Geological Characteristics And Metallogenic Prognosis Of Xiaojiashan Gold Deposit In Liling, Hunan Province

Located in the eastern part of Liling, Hunan province, Xiaojiashan gold deposit belongs to the gold deposit concentration area of northeastern Hunan. The research region is part of the northeastern Hunan subsegment, situated in the projecting part of the reversal s-shaped arc of Qinhang metallogenic belt. This deposit is an important part of the circum-pacific metallogenic zone, which shows excellent metallogenic conditions, with well-developed stratas and structures formed in different ages.On the basis of analyzing the regional metallogenic geological background, this thesis concentrates on study of the strata, structures and orebody of the mining area. Meanwhile, the deposit-controlling factors and prospecting criterias are analyzed and metallogenic prognosis areas are proposed according to geophysical and geochemical characteristics.The following research results can be concluded:The tectonic position of this deposit belongs to the "Liuyang-Banshanpu prospecting area of gold, silver, copper and zinc "; the ore-host strata (the Huanghudong group) and brittle-ductile shear zone as well as other factors are closely related to the deposit formation.Sericitization, pyritization, slicification and decoloration are alteration marks of wall rock near orebodies, of which, the slicification, pyritization, and decoloration are characteristic marks of gold mineralization. Fine subhedral-xenomorphic pyrite is with the highest gold potentiality, which can be used as the direct prospecting criteria of gold deposit.According to geophysical and geochemical characteristics, prospecting potentiality is small in the northern part of this deposit, however, is great in the middle and southern part of the deposit in the deep. Based on geological, geophysical and geochemical characteristics, three metallogenic prognosic areas are proposed in this region and the burying depth of the gold deposits may be about50m-200m in prospecting Area One and Two. The anomaly shows in the Area Three is deserved to further study to identify whether is formed by orebody.
