Semantic Translation Based On Geo-Information-Ontology

With the development and popularity of network technology, GIS application will further develop into intelligent, large-scale, integrated, and industrialized. The spatial information technology and communications will be further fused, and geographic information sharing will develop from within the departments to the nation, global and social sharing.Proceeding from the sharing of geographic information, the paper discusses the purpose and meaning of geographic information sharing, and analyzes the current situation and developing trend of geographic information sharing. Meanwhile, it elaborates the essence of semantic sharing, and puts forward the achievement of semantic sharing of geographic information based on ontology.In the task background of the two Councils’cooperation (General Staff Department and National Mapping Bureau), the paper mainly discusses the semantic conversion based on ontology from the following three aspects:1. Establish the ontological framework of GB data and Military standard data by way of ontology, which has laid a theoretical foundation for the collaboration of the two Councils and provided the possibility for further civil-military cooperation and social sharing in the future.2. Analyses and compare the classification system, data model and data forma of GB data and Military standard data, establish the generic coding of table of GB data and Military standard data, further establish the geographical information ontology framework based on GB GIS ontology framework and military standard geographical information ontology framework, which provides a reference standard for the transformation between GB data and Military standard data3. Analyses the transformation of mathematical basis, that is, the transformation of coordinate system and projection. The transformation of mathematical basis is the basis of the realization of geospatial data transformation, and ultimately the geographic information sharing.Through the analysis, it gains that geospatial data sharing is the important and basic content in the development and application of GIS. Thus, from theory to practice, the paper has did some research in the semantic transformation based on ontology through the establishment of geographic ontology framework based on the analysis of geospatial data.
