Spatial information data acquisition is more vary. Image data is a very important one.Different types of image data already accumulated a very large level. Establishment of aneffective organization and management of image data stored in image database systems canhelp us to quickly access images in order to obtain spatial information. Generally, only thestereo image pairs can be accurately obtained the space three-dimensional coordinates of thecorresponding ground points. So our image database makes the image pairs as the stored unit.The image and its left or right images are linked automatically. Retrieve an image and can getthe stereo pair which it is in at the same time. So this image database management systemdatabase can be named by stereo-image database. Based on this design, this paper has donesome research and work:(1) Understand the database designing principles and rules. In the context of theseprinciples including integrity of the database paradigm to meet the requirements, reduce dataredundancy, rapid retrieval mechanism, etc., design the stereo-image database.(2) Learn the Oracle database and its interface with high-level language named OCI.Develop database management system with OCI and VC++. The VC program can access andmanipulate databases.(3) Use the principle of the resection-intersection method to obtain three-dimensionalcoordinate information. System uses image grayscale matching method to obtain t thelocation of the corresponding points. Combined with the intersection theory, calculate theexterior orientation elements of objective three-dimensional coordinates.(4) Design the basic processes of the stereo-image database. Based on the design,develop stereo-image database application program. The program can log on to the database,import data and retrieve data. The program also can display image-pairs. For users’convenience, the program has the function of3-D measurement. Users can get thethree-dimensional coordinates of interesting objective.Finally, make the conclusion of the stereo-image database research. There are still sometechnical difficulties. Prospect the future development of the spatial information serviceplatform.
