In recent years, coal gangue produced by large mining activities had become an important problem for mine sustainable development. Coal gangue, the solid waste in mining process and coal washing process, had the same composition more complexed and included the minerals such as kaolinite, quartz, pyrite and so on,which were the main carrier of trace elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs). The paper took fresh gangue of Xishan Du Erping mine as an example, studied geochemical characteristics of elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in coal gangue to provide the theoretical basis for gangue pollution controlling.The study meithods and conclusions were as following:(1)This paper used X fluorescence, XRD diffraction, ICP-MS determination to get the contents of major, trace and rare earth elements in gangue of Xishan Du Erping coal mine. The results was that compared with much of the China Coal, the United States coal, Permo Carboniferous coal in North China, main coal gangue were enriched in Sc V, Cr, Ga, Rb, U, Nb, Cd, Ta. Other trace elements were equivalent with much of the world coal, the United States coal and Permo-Carboniferous coal of North China; The samples were enriched in rare earth element especially light rare earth elements and the contents of light rare earth elements were more than heavy rare earth elements.REE distribution pattern showed clear negative Eu anomaly and Ce negative anomaly, which was mainly occured in kaolinite clay minerals.(2)In this paper, the analytical methods of Chloroform as solvent, Soxhlet extraction, using silica and aluminum as purification and enrichment, Potary Evaporator and circulationg water pump for volum and concentration, LC-MS, to analyse the distribution of16PAHs in the coal gangue of Duerping coal mine.Through the study to find that:1) There were16PAHs in the2#^3#coal gangue and14PAHs in the8#coal gangue (no acenaphthene and flexor)2) The contents of High Molecular PAHs were more than the Light MolecularWeight PAHs and The PAHs were mostly3,4,5annulus.(3)The paper usead B, Sa/Ba, B/Ga to get the result that coal seams gangue was formed in continental fresh water environment; used U/Th, V/Cr, Ni/Co, Cu/Zn to get the result that2#,3#gangue was formed in the oxidation environment. Fluoranthene, Pyr, Benzo[k], Benzo[b], Benzo[a] in samples indicated that there were certain mount of higher plants inputing. Fluorene in samples indicated more reductive environment.
