On the basis of field investigation, this thesis takes Forsythiasuspense as the research object to make a comprehensive andsystematic study on the Forsythia suspense population in Shanxi(Lvliang Mountain, Taiyue Mountain and Zhongtiao Mountain),applying the method of quantitative ecology from the point of viewof flora and population ecology. This study contains populationfeatures, species diversity, distribution pattern and productivitydistribution pattern and so on. The results show that:(1)Firstly, Forsythia geographic distribution in Shanxi overallpresents cluster distribution, mainly concentrated in the elevationof 671m-1780m.(2)There are totally 222 species of vascular plants in researchplant community, belonging to 64 families and 170 genera, amongwhich there is one species of Pteridophyte in Family 1, Genus 1; 3species of Gymnosperm in Family 2, Genus 3; 196 speciesDicotyledonous in Family 54, Genus 147; 22 speciesMonocotyledonous in Family 7, Genus 19.Research plant community in Shanxi area belongs to temperate zone distribution, including 22distribution areas, in which the north temperate zone genera takes30.59% and overall, the flora belongs to temperate zone in nature.According to Raunkiaer’s biological spectrum statistics, thebiological spectrum statistics in research plant community mainlyconsists of hemicryptophytes, accounted for 31.53%, followed byphanerophytes 26.58%. chamaephyte also occupy much whilecryptophytes (geophytes) and therophytes are rare.In accordance with the importance of the population, forsythia isthe single species dominancy in each specific research community, while other species mainly include Rosa xanthina, Spiraeapubescens and Lespedeza formosa. The forsythia populations ofspecies diversity research and comparison apply 3 indexes ofdiversity in different layers of different areas. Through the diversitycomparison among different levels of species, the species diversityof forsythia populations belongs to shrub layer > herb layer > treelayer and it presents the same in different regions. According to theTWINSPAN classification, and concerning about the actualecological significance, forsythia populations are divided into 8groups as following:Ⅰ.Ass.Forsythia suspense+Acerelegantulum-Carex lanceolata、Ⅱ. Ass.Forsythia suspense+Rosaxanthina- Carex lanceolata、Ⅲ. Ass.Forsythia suspense+Lespedeza Formosa trilobata +Rosa xanthina- Carex lanceolata、Ⅳ.Ass.Forsythia suspense+ Exochorda giraldii - Carex lanceolata+Artemisia dubia、Ⅴ. Ass.Forsythia suspense+ Cotinus coggygria var- Carex lanceolata+ Artemisia dubia、Ⅵ. Ass.Forsythia suspense -Carex lanceolata+ Artemisia dubia、Ⅶ. Ass.Forsythiasuspense+Quercus baronii - Carex lanceolata+ Rubia cordifolia、Ⅷ.Ass. Quercus baronii +Forsythia suspense - Carex lanceolata+Elsholtzia stauntoni.(3)Through replacing time with space, forsythia is divided into fourage classes, of which the distribution shows a peak pattern. Theindividual mainly concentrates in the middle age, while younger ageand older age are relatively less. In the spatial pattern overall,Forsythia suspense population and other important single species, like Rosa xanthina, Spiraea pubescens,Lespedeza formosa, deviatesignificantly from the random distribution, and present the clusterdistribution. However, they gradually appear in random distributionalong with the increase of scale. They are connected more closelywith the main single and show contagious distribution. Forsythiapopulation of each age class all show aggregated distributionpattern, but the distributions of each age class are various. In the case of large scale of young age, the Forsythia individualdisplays an aggregated distribution pattern, but in the case of large scale, the individual displays random distribution pattern. Alongwith the age growth of Forsythia, their spatial distribution issignificantly tended to cluster distribution. The relationships amongeach age class show a positive correlativity in most scale. Thisrelation is conducive for Forsythia populations to make full use ofresources, with the guarantee of the population survival anddevelopment.(4)In the studied area, the dry weight of Forsythia leaf haslinear relation with its leaf area. Specific leaf area in the Qiliyuresearch community reaches the maximum value. Meanwhile, thearea of specific leaf has significant positive correlation with otherareas, which shows various environmental factors in Qiliyu are goodfor the growth of Forsythia species.
