With the growth of the running time, it is inevitable that there are some pipelinetransportation corrosion problems beginning to appear. Regular testing can ensure thesafe operation of the pipeline and avoid some leakage accidents. How to effectivelycomplete the pipeline inspection tasks is a long-term research topic in the field ofpipeline safety. TEM, as a kind of geophysical exploration methods, has been widelyused in the field of drilling, resources exploration, marine, aviation and so on. Thispaper will apply the TEM in the in-service detection of buried pipeline, focusing on theinfluence of the sensor parameters on the detection.Based on the TEM theory, this paper firstly introduced the detection principle andsome application characteristics of TEM. Then, it is briefly described several commonworking devices and excitation sources of TEM. What’s more, the applications of TEMin the working process of the buried pipeline are introduced. Through the analysis of theequivalent circuit of the sensor, the transfer function is derived. This paper alsodiscussed the transient response and sine response of the coil. It comes to the conclusionthat the coil only works in a state of critical damping, the system cannot createturbulences, the signal will not be seriously distorted and the process of transition underthe state is the shortest. It studied the primary field and secondary field in the obliquestep excitation of the transition process and analysis the parameters of the sensor on thefirst induced voltage and the secondary induced voltage. By producing different types ofdevices, the side length of the loop and coil turns the sensor on the test model for dataanalysis, it discussed the impact of the different sensor parameters on test results. Testresults indicate that the center loop work better and the loop is better in larger sidelength or more turns. According to the conclusion of the laboratory, by makingoptimized sensor engineering to test practical problems and through the means of theexcavation, it finally verified the experimental conclusions.
