Comparative advantage is focused on national or regional industry division of labor and the rationality of the industries complementary, and competitive advantage theory focuses more on national or regional industry conflict and industry substitution of causality.Hainan is located in the south of China, with sunshine advantage and agricultural location advantages, tropical agriculture is the Hainan special industry. It has comparative advantages in the nationwide. Areca-nut is an important tropical plants in Hainan, with a widely planting area and high output. Areca-nut is also the main source of revenue in Hainan rural peasant, but there is a contradiction between high production efficiency of Areca-nut and the lagging Areca-nut industrialization. So, we could say that, if we make the Hainan Areca-nut industry getting bigger and stronger, it is not only could increase farmers'income, but also adjust the Hainan province agricultural structure, and finally the develop the modern agriculture procedure.The following are the meanings of this article. By measuring the comparative advantage and competitiveness of Hainan areca-nut production with, analyzes the reason why Hainan areca-nut industry developed so lag, and find out the influencing factors of development of areca-nut industry, and through constructing model choose right city to become growth poles of areca-nut industry,This article adopts a research method that combined theoretical analysis with empirical study, and combined qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis. In macroscopic and microscopic perspectives, analyzed areca-nut production situation.The main measuring method has production of comparative advantage and the competitiveness of the industry. The following are the conclusions of this article. Hainan areca-nut production has advantages in the world scope, Hainan Areca-nut production efficiency higher than other tropical plant. The area has the higher production of comparative by the closer of the southern part of Hainan. Sanya is the most suitable growth area for areca-nut. Sanya and Qionghai has the competitive advantages in the industry. But Wanning has the government policy support. The three areas should be consideration of the growth pole of areca-nut.Considering the conclusions, this article gives policy advice mainly from seven aspects. Firstly training local areca-nut enterprises, the development of the local conditions areca-nut industry, secondly, actively learning Taiwan areca-nut industry development experience, thirdly, improve the Hainan informational level, reduce the costs of transportation, fourthly, improve the Hainan areca-nut processing ability, fifthly, to explore overseas markets, sixthly, strengthen the food safety, make product production standard, seventhly, promote the cultural value of the industry.
