Study On Decomposition Estimates And Influencing Factors Of Total Factor Productivity In China Tobacco Industry

In the monopoly system protection, China tobacco industry has maintained a steady development, and great contributions to finance. In the "eleventh five-year plan" period, China tobacco industry realized accumulative total taxes and profits2.21trillion yuan, accounting for7.28%of the national revenue. But in the process of development, it has also exposed a lot of problems, such as invested large amount of capital and labor, insufficient innovation power and technical efficiency and management efficiency to be further improvement, etc. All these bring substantial obstacles to the development of the tobacco industry. Also, As the market continues to open up and our country performing the framework convention on tobacco control deepen ceaselessly, tobacco industry enterprises are facing the challenge of increasing. Therefore, it become significant to understand their own development law, make clear the direction of future development and promote the tobacco industry keeps sustained, stable and coordinated development.Total factor productivity (TFP) theory is the important tool of economic growth research. This paper, taking it as the theoretical basis, firstly, use of data envelopment analysis (DEA) estimates17tobacco industry company's TFP from2001to2010. then, combine with Malmquist index analysis decompose TFP change index into pure technical efficiency change index, scale efficiency change index and technical change index. Through the comprehensive comparison of each index analysis, sums up the tobacco industry company's TFP growth characteristics.Secondly, this paper examine the impact factors of the TFP through the measurement of Empirical, and estimate the extent of the impact of the R&D investment, human capital investment, the degree of market opening, and the product structure of four factors on TFP growth.Finally, based on the quantitative and qualitative analysis, this paper puts forward policy suggestions on how to improve TFP and promote tobacco industry to develop, from technology, talent, system, cooperative production, brand extend five aspects.
