Study On The Approach Of Improving Aec's Competitiveness Based On The Value Chain

Since China's entry into WTO, the further opening to overseas engineering projects general contracting market, as a project contractor, A Engineering Company(AEC) has passed through a hard growing pain period of EPC(Engineering-Procurement-Construction) business, has accomplished the transformation from original main businesses to EPC contracting businesses successfully, and will develop some overseas markets gradually. And this thesis pointed out the significance of studying the issue that how to improve the competiveness of AEC. The main points as following:Firstly, with the studying of bibliography for Strategic Management Theory, this thesis retrospected the enterprises strategic theory, the enterprises core competitiveness strategic theory, the construction enterprises core competitiveness strategic theory, and studied the engineering project general contracting historical bibliography relating to AEC's main business.All of them prepared a theoretical foundation for further research.Secondly, based on the historical literature research, this thesis made a general introduction for AEC, and made a value chain analysis combining with the development history and the development objectives of AEC, by using value chain theory. After finishing the analysis for the competitiveness formation of AEC, with the use of qualitative methods, this thesis found out the common competitiveness between internationally renowned engineering company. Based on the above anylasis and we find the core competitiveness which AEC should have.Finally, with the use of SWOT Analysis method for AEC, this thesis analyzed the current strategic environment, the company's internal advantage and disadvantage, the external opportunities and challenges on the current basis. Combined with the key ability system which AEC should have, this thesis found the ways to enhance the competitiveness finally. Also hope to supply some suggestions to other domestic enterprises which have the same experiences with AEC, and need to enhance the competitiveness of EPC contracting.
