Research On The Food Security Of Kunming

Food is not only a strategic commodity to the national economy and the people's livelihood, but also a special commodity which has both privacy and publicity. The circulation of Food, as a special industry which has both competition and social welfare, can be developed healthily only under an environment where the government and market interact with each other. From this aspect, the Food Security is the foundation of economy development and important component to the national security strategy. The government should take this important responsibility of securing the Food supply and distribution.Although the problem of food and clothing has been basically solved, it does not mean that we can neglect the problem of Food security. The reality of our country, which large population on limited ground, decides that the Food security was, is and will always be the first important thing china faced. No matter how developed the society is, how progressed the science is, eat meal is the basic needs of human being. If we cannot ensure the Food security, some problems related to the society development and stableness will emerge. So we should attach great importance the Food security and Food production.In recent years, Kunming city basically reached the balance of Food supply and demand. But 70 percent of total supply is transferred from other provinces. In the macro condition that a half more provinces cannot meet their Food demand and only nine provinces are self-sufficient, there are huge risks in the Food security of Kunming city, considering it is on the pace of accelerating the process of urbanization and facing the problem that cultivated land and water resources are becoming more and more shortage. This paper makes a thorough review of research on related theory at both home and abroad, mainly applies the public crisis management theory, deploys a combined method of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, and tries to make an in-depth analysis on the Food security status of Kunming city and supply-demand trend, and explores the factors that influence Food security. To solve the severe challenge we are facing now, this paper tries to give some advices and suggestions as to ensure the Food security of Kunming city, such as what should the government to do to the promote the competence of macroeconomic control, etc.
