The development of economy depends on the growth of productivity, which is accepted by more and more economists. Consequently, the research on the influence of productivity has its theoretical and practical significance.Initially, on the basis of comprehensive review of the relevant literatures home and abroad, a theoretical analysis framework of several important macro-variables and productivity relationship is established as the theoretical basis of the empirical research.Secondly, based on the provincial data of China from1978 to 2008, the panel unit root test, co-integration test and error correction model are used to analyze the relationships among productivity, employment, wage and industrial structure. The research result indicates that there is a long-term equilibrium co-integration relationship among the economic variables mentioned above. In long terms, there exists significant positive correlation between the employment and the productivity in China. The growth of wage boosts the increase of productivity. The growth of productivity decreases if the proportion of the primary industry increases. The growth of productivity grows if the proportion of the second and the third industry increases. Finally, according to the results of the empirical studies, some corresponding policies are put forward to offer the references for relevant departments for the purpose that these policies can function effectively and feasibly.
