The Case Study On Risk Management Of FH Company ERP Project

As a representative of small and medium enterprises in China, FH has more than 140 employees and achieves an annual output of about 100 million. FH uses information technology project as its tool to promote management. However, informationization of Chinese enterprises is still in its early stage, and enterprise information technology projects are at risks of uncertainties, which have lead to the failure of many projects. These risks come from the enterprises' lack of management experience in implementing information technology projects, from the software providers' incapability in implementation, etc. Therefore, it has become a critical question for FH as how to avoid the risks or minimize their influences which already occurred in the implementation of information technology projects.Project risk management is an important part in project management. How to make sure the project progress and complete as planned by reasonably and effectively controlling the project risks is a core task in project risk management.This paper conducts research on the existing problems of FH in its risk management of information technology projects by means of case study. On the basis of the introduction of the background, progress and present problems of FH's information technology projects, this paper studies into FH's major problems in project risk management in terms of risk identification, risk assessment, risk response, etc and analyzes the harm of these problems. By reviewing the literature on the present research progress on project risk management both home and abroad and on theories of risk management, this paper analyzes the major problems in FH's project risk management and finds out that the reasons come from the lack of risk management awareness, weakness in risk management organization, unstandardized risk management process and poorness in emergency management. Finally, this paper offers improvement strategies for FH's risk mangement from the aspects of promoting employees'risk management awareness, strengthening risk management organization, optimizing risk management process and system, and strengthening emergency management, etc.
