As a developing country, China has a large population in rural areas. In rural household energy consumption, per capita commercial energy is very small and most family rely on local available biomass. While energy supply and consumption in China's rural areas play a great important role not only to rural society, economic and environment development, but also to the overall planning of the entire national energy and environmental policy.Based on the background above, the paper chose Jingxian, Jinhu, Shanghang, Shulan, Xinmi, Yunmeng, Weiyuan and Tongnan (typical areas of China's eight regions) as the study areas, and took surveys into households. Through the research on the choice of energy consumption of rural household, the paper analyzed the key factors affecting their selection behaviors and gave some advice. To achieve this objective, the paper is divided into the following parts: describing the energy consumption level, consumption structure and the factors affecting them; establishing economics model and estimating the key factor coefficients; discussing the effective way to update the rural energy consumption. General multivariate regression, Logit Model and Tobit Model are used to discuss the factors affecting energy selection and consumption level. The results show that family income, resource availability and level of education and other family characteristics have significantly affects on the level and structure of energy consumption. As income increases, households increase the likelihood of commercial energy options, reducing the possibility of select raw materials. To rural households biomass is not favored energy, and with the rise of incomes there will be reduction of biomass consumption. The higher the educational level of family farmers will tend to choose more clean, convenient energy products,at the same time, the number of domestic non-farm employment also has implications on energy consumption, the farmers would be willing to choose higher quality energy Combination of the above conclusions, the study concludes some guide suggestions in energy consumption, consumption structure optimization including enhancing research in the rational use of traditional biomass, adjusting the structure of employment, and promote non-farm employment of rural labor transfer and so on.
