In the 21st century, the polarization between the rich and the poor remains in the worldwide. The Jewish Effect that the rich get richer while the poor get poorer is more and more serious. A great many economists try to ask the question that how to seize the opportunities of economic globalization and avoid the risk which globalization brings. It has become the thorniest problem for all of developing countries to breakthrough the economic control from the rich countries. To solve the problem, we should hold the key link and find the correct and appropriate theory as a guideline and foundation firstly, rather than work out a series of economic and administrative measures which will bring serious side-effect to the society.Centre-periphery theory deals with the world economic structure. It focuses on discoursing and analyzing the development of economically backward countries in the periphery. The theory spends almost half a century from production to mature. Firstly, the thesis attempts to summarize the process of Centre-periphery theory systematically. The whole process can be divided into three stages:Raul Prebisch, the representative of ECLAC, first holds forth the center-periphery theory officially. The boom of Dependency School promotes the Centre-periphery theory to the climax stage. The World System Theory promotes it to perfect. Because there are many differences among the history of three stages, they have different emphasis points, and correct the center-periphery theory in various degrees respectively. Secondly, the thesis analyzes the inherit relationship between the center-periphery theory and Marxist theory and the oppose relationship between the center-periphery theory and the Modernization Theory, in order to find the identity of the theory. At last, the thesis summarize some inspirations for guiding the developing countries to choose sustainable development strategy in the background of economic globalization...
