On the basis of the study at home and abroad, to strengthen ecological forestry construction as the background, to improve the overall efficiency and increase farmers'income as the objective, through the survey and comprehensive data analysis of forest conditions and status of understory economic development in some counties of Loess hilly region in West Henan, this paper brings out recommendations for the society, the environment and the role of farmers. This article systematically describes the purpose and importance of understory economic development of loess hilly region in West Henan, gives a detailed analysis of status, advantages, main problems and reasons of the understory economic development of loess hilly region in West Henan, and puts forward that to fully develop the ecological understory economic is one important way for ecological forestry construction in loess hilly region of West Henan and sustainable development. Through in-depth comparative analysis of various modes of understory economic development in loess hilly region of West Henan, it chooses the proper mode of understory economic development for areas with different conditions.
