As China entered the WTO, foreign banks flooded into our country, the domestic commercial banks were therefore confronted with a severe challenge of survival and development. In order to stand steady on the market and seek stable development in an increasingly opened financial environment, our domestic commercial banks successively took a series of reform measures on bank reengineering. Regardless of partial or overall reengineering, the re-evaluation and design of banks' corporate settlement business is an unavoidable issue, which has put forward new requirements on management. The intensive management of such corporate settlement business is a beneficial attempt for the control of operational risks and improvement of operating efficiency. According to the accumulated MBA knowledge and the occupational practice, the author found that the internal factors played a leading role in banks'operational risks. The occurrence of various cases was usually due to loose internal control, inconformity to regulations, low quality of staff and late audit. As the final realization of any business can not be done without settlement, controlling operational risks is particularly important for the corporate settlement business since it involves enormous amount of money. In the meanwhile, a better services provider in keen competitions is the winner of more customers; As the market requests an increasingly fine bank services, staff members need to cope with fussy account treatment on the one hand and devote their time to front-desk services and marketing on the other hand according to the original operating mode of the corporate settlement business, their professionalization and efficiency can be hardly improved. As the bank reengineering centers on customers and uses the advanced information technology to re-design banks' business process with a view to lowering operating cost, boosting management efficiency, improving the relationship with customers and increasing their satisfaction to earn their longer loyalty, to that end, the banks changed their management mode of corporate settlement business from the extensive management and diversified operation to the intensive management and centralized operation, separated work focuses and tasks of the front desk from those of the rear desk where some tasks not requiring real-time processing are placed to the rear desk, and also established corresponding operating center and monitoring center to allow front-desk staff members to be able to better focus on customer services and marketing. This paper will start with the definition and properties of corporate settlement business, make a comparison between the new and old management modes in such aspects as risk control and services efficiency on the basis of the supervision requirements of operational risks and the objectives of bank reengineering, and borrow domestic and foreign relevant cases and experience for reference so as to put forward some advices on perfection and optimization of management. The paper is divided into several parts as follows:introduction of the first chapter, which mainly gives an introduction to the background of the selected subject, significance of the research as well as relevant concepts and theories; literature review of the second chapter, which mainly elaborates the aspects requiring attention for the research on management of corporate settlement business, that is, flow management, operational risks management and service quality management; the third chapter, which analyzes the abuses of the past management mode and their causes of formation from such angles as business process, risk prevention and service quality; the fourth chapter, which gives an introduction to the problems that can be solved by the intensive management mode in terms of controlling operational risks, boosting operating efficiency and providing customers with professional services; the fifth chapter, which analyzes how the intensive management mode perfects and promotes the constant optimization and improvement of the management on the basis of the above. The author believes that the original mode has become a choking point that restricts the development of the banks' corporate settlement business, and the intensive management can be effective and operable to some extent in terms of control of operational risks and increase of service efficiency, in particular, it has the practical significance in real-time control of concurrent risks in the course of exploration of business process. Hence, the analysis and grasp of the intensive management of corporate settlement business as well as exploration of how to establish a highly efficient risk monitoring mechanism and customer services mechanism are realistically significant.
