Macao Convention And Exhibition Industry Comparative Analysis Joint Development

In recent years, the strong momentum of Macau gaming industry drives the rapid development of tourism, hotel industry. But unbalanced industrial structure also harms the sustainable development of Macao's economy. Therefore the Macau Government attaches great importance to economic restructuring. As service-oriented, Macao is positioned as an international tourism and leisure center, and both food exposition and high consumer exhibit, such as auto show and boat show have industry support, which has unique advantages to develop convention and exhibition industry. Therefore, the Macao Government will take convention and exhibition industry as a priority for properly diversified economy.This paper analyzes the domestic and international research and theory with previous research results, combined with the exhibition of related concepts, analyzes the current development, strengths and weaknesses of Macao's convention and exhibition industry. Then the paper compares exhibition industry of Macao with Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and finds that by small size constraints and other reasons, development of exhibition industry in Macau is far behind Guangdong, Hong Kong's exhibition industry. On the basis of the above analysis, the paper proposed the related policy proposals for development of Macao's convention and exhibition industry. First, the exhibition industry should be combined with the gaming and tourism development, by advantages of tourism, gaming and other industries, to develop international conferences, small features exhibitions, unique cultural festival events as key products, and establish the image of Convention and tourist city of Macao. Second, to have the emphasis on promoting the role of the Convention and Exhibition Association. Third, to have joint development with Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region. By the advantage of the Pearl River Delta region cities, with all joint exhibition resources, to create joint exhibition platform and avoid unhealthy competition with Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region, to jointly develop domestic and international convention and exhibition market. This study has a certain reference value for promoting development of exhibition industry of Macao to stimulate regional economic development, and making the exhibition industry as the leading force in regional economic development in Macao.
