Lefebvre examines the concept of space in the history of philosophy and puts space in a fundamental status in his famous book, The Production of Space. I will focus on conceptualizations of space and the interface between philosophy and social theory and in so doing to propose a new aesthetics. Lefebvre develops Marx's political economy and bring a spatial turn.The structure of this paper is as follows:firstly, I will show the way from Lefebvre's The Production of Space towards the concept of space and space is connected with society and have various meanings; secondly, the triad-spatial practice, representations of spaces, and representational spaces will be examined; thirdly, I shall deal with the history of the production of space-from absolute space to abstract space and focuses on how abstract space in Capitalist society operates; and finally, the analysis of the relation between space and language will be examined in detail. |
