On the basis of taking the three-tank level process as the research object, the internal model control methods and applications of the level process control were studied in this paper. The three-tank level process with a big time lag can largely simulate the whole or partial practical controlled objects during the industrial processes. Level as an important industrial process controlled parameter, the studies of level process control methods and applications have important theoretical significance and practical application value. The big time lag has become increasingly serious, but most control methods still stay in the stage of theories or simulations, and lack the supports of practical applications, which hinder their applications in the actual industrial processes. With this background, the design of application software and the improvement of internal model control methods were discussed in this paper.According to the analysis of the existing softwares, a new software architecture was implementation based on C#in this paper, which provided the interface for control methods. The control methods were compiled as.NET assemblies, so that these control methods could be limberly applied. At the same time, internal model control has a good control and anti-interference performances, which could solve the problems caused by the big time lag in the level control process.First, according to the analysis of the hardware platform of experimental facility, the three-tank level process control system was established. The measurement and control software was detailedly designed and implemented using VisualStudio2005and SQLServer data base. The dynamic characteristics of the level process were analyzed using this software. The mathematical model structure of three-tank level process was obtained based on mechanism analysis and the unknown parameters in the mathematical model were determined based on experimental identification. At the same time, the high order mathematical model was order reduced. The internal model control PID controller and internal model controllers whose filter parameters were adjusting by genetic algorithm and single-neuron were designed and compiled as.NET assemblies. Using these.NET assemblies, the fixed set point control experiments of the level process were done through the independently developed software.The results show that the control methods based on internal model control can effectively solve the problems such as the model mismatch and system random noise. At the same time, it is proved that the software is validity.
