Xinyang Maojian Tea is an important economical crop in Xinyang, and it was listed as one of the Top Ten Teas of China in1959and was named the High-Quality and Notability Tea of China in1982. Now Xinyang Maojian Tea has been warmly welcomed throughout the whole country as well as abroad, such as Japan, Germany, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia and etc.At present, researchers can take advantage of digital image processing techniques, which involves a number of characteristic parameters, to identify the shape, size, color and texture features of tea leaves and to enhance the classification study of the quality of tea. However, the research on the application of digital image processing technology in detecting the grades of quality of Xinyang Maojian Tea is still rare. Through the relevant techniques based on the digital image processing technology, this thesis takes the color and texture features of Xinyang Maojian Tea as its research object and reveals the relationship between the characteristic parameters and their grades of quality of Xinyang Maojian Tea, which provides technical support and research guidance to improve the reliability and accuracy of the classifications of Xinyang Maojin Tea. The main research contents are as follows:1. Based of the analysis of image pre-processing method,'combined with characteristics of Xinyang Maojian Tea's image, this thesis applies the histogram equalization and median filtering method to pre-process the image of Xinyang Maojian.2. This thesis not only selects the super, the first-rate and the fourth-rate Xinyang Maojian as the research object because of the prominence of the image features of the three samples but selects the digital camera as the main equipment for the acquisition of the image of Xinyang Maojian in order to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different equipments'quality on image acquisition.3. This thesis analyzes the theoretical knowledge and characteristics of RGB Color Mode. And HIS Color Model, extracts their color model maps respectively based on the application of matlab7.0. and analyze the interrelationships between the various sub-measure values and grades of Xinyang Maojian. Though the analysis it shows that the changes of the "R value and G value" within the RGB Color Model and "I value" within the HIS Color Model are obvious according to the changes of grades of Xinyang Maojian Tea, which can be used as the important features of value for the classification of Xinyang Maojian.4. Through the analysis of the relevant concepts and theoretical knowledge of the textures features and discussion of the application of the histogram and GLCM(Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix), this thesis extracts the texture features of the image of Xinyang Maojian and analyzes the corresponding parameter values based on the application of GLCM. The conclusion shows that the parameter values of the texture features of Xinyang Maojian are consistent with the actual observed texture features of the image of Xinyang Maojian, that is, the texture of the image of the super type of Xinyang Maojian Tea is even and smooth while the texture of the image of the fourth-rate Xinyang Maojian is uneven and rough.
