Lu End, The Sea Began In Sri Lanka: Current Investigative Reporting Critical Discourse Analysis

This paper used critical discourse analysis as theoretical tool and research approaches to distinguish text reality and social reality of the current text of investigative reports by summarizing the paths and genres of the theory and inducting of critical discourse analysis. This study chose Fairclough's text, discourse-practice and social practice three-dimensional pattern as a theoretical framework.In text dimension, This paper chose investigative report "The Inside Story of Taobao corruption" which published on April20,2012on IT Times as a research object and Alan Bell's news text discourse structure framework which consisted story, abstract, attribution to three units of18projects as method. All the contents belonged to the text intertwined complex ideological demands. In the text structure of "The Inside Story of Taobao Corruption", Taobao established the absolute hegemony in the current domestic e-commerce, but the text maintained the anti-hegemonic stance to the firm, and take the angle of weak people without reservation, which is against the professional and objective position.In the dimensions of discourse and social practice, the paper continued the analysis under the theoretical framework of Fairclough, and supplemented the concepts of Foucault's discipline, examination and panopticon. From the texts of investigative reports, investigative reporters, to the news medias which they belong to; from a single text to the complex behavior of the media, to the resistance and discipline of the social significance and construction is the face of critical discourse analysis'most value. By Checking mechanism of investigative reporting practitioners and the media regulation in the state apparatus, the central-level media must avoid sensitive and negative coverage by the audit or compliance with the provisions of the Central Committee. Local government controlling news sources is still an open secret in local media. In addition, the economic pressure of investigative reporter under the present system of is very heavy. Widespread "interceding with the Wind" from top to bottom in society is also one of the reasons which hindered reporters reported. In the dimension of Panopticon and media self-examination, risk judgment and gatekeeper strategies are actually self-censorship of the media. And economic problems in the internal review is also a means of control. The resistance within the media can be on the lower level of government supervision by public opinion. Reporters can avoid the risk by zero writing style or paying attention to sensitive words Using the unique political advantage and power background of official news agencies, such as Xinhua News Agency, is also the method. Besides, using the help of development of the Internet media could make report carried out smoothly.In the present social context, the practitioners of investigative reports should learn to master and adapt to the unprecedented historical situation to avoid the sentimental embarrassment and simplicity of action in reality. Although the reality is tough, the land ends, the sea begins.
