The mobile robot research is an important branch in the field of mobile robotics research. With the rapid development of science and technology, the application of mobile robot technology in their daily lives more and more, the design of the mobile robot and obstacle avoidance has become a current research focus. This article is based on the ARM processor as the core of the robot, self-designed hardware platform for mobile robot, mobile robots on the platform.This paper analyzes the development and research status of the mobile robot at home and abroad, focused on the structures of the mobile robot hardware platform to control the platform software design, obstacle avoidance research and through software simulation and physical experiments on a mobile robot in an unknown environment to avoid the barrier was verified. Its main contents are the following aspects:First, the hardware platform and software platform for mobile robot design. S3C2440ARM processor core as a mobile robot control, the peripheral circuit of the robot and expansion interface design. Ported hardware based on the Linux operating system and device driver.Secondly, the mobile robot platform for mobile robots. Understanding of the ultrasonic sensors and image sensor technology. Design of ultrasonic sensors and image sensor information fusion method to study mobile robots.Finally, the mobile robot obstacle avoidance algorithm proposed mobile robot obstacle avoidance, the right choice for Preventing Collisions at point. Mobile robot path planning, mobile robot to avoid obstacles in the process of autonomous mobile, and software simulation and physical experiments to validate the feasibility of obstacle avoidance algorithm.
