With the development of information technology in manufacturing, most enterprise has accumulated massive data of product design knowledge. But for most of the data processing still depends on manual operation. Confronted with the larger knowledge of redundancy content and complex structure, how to acquire the information accurately, timely and comprehensively has become the focus of our attention. Traditional knowledge sharing technology can not satisfy growing users'demands, ontology as a concept model in semantic and knowledge level of information, which has perfect concept hierarchical structure and support of logical reasoning. Knowledge sharing technology based on ontology has become focus of researching of foreign and domestic scholars.Firstly, it discusses knowledge sharing progress at home and abroad, and analyzes current situation and defects in reusing of design knowledge and knowledge sharing in this paper. Secondly, on the basis of relevant ontological theories, a functional ontological layer modeling framework is proposed, which provides rich concepts for representing and reusing functional knowledge consistently. According to construction strategy of domain ontology, we construct functional ontology of house appliance field and store it. Moreover, the current difficult problems of design knowledge sharing are analyzed and discussed, and the method that changing way of function achievement to realize sharing of functional knowledge is proposed, meanwhile theory of function decomposition tree is discussed. Finally, combined ontology construction technology, it proposes one solution of functional knowledge sharing based on functional ontology, and verifies the result through developing a software platform of functional knowledge sharing in this paper. The framework includes six modules, which is collection of field information, constructing of functional ontology, retrieval of functional knowledge and way of function achievement, creation of function decomposition tree, and retrieval of fault knowledge. In the stage of domain information acquisition, through collecting and analyzing large material of refrigerators manufacture, it extracts some functional conceptual vocabularies, relationships among the functional conceptions, and way of function achievement, and then constructs functional ontology in Hozo in this paper. Results show that functional knowledge sharing platform based on ontology has higher efficiency than the current design knowledge sharing. In manufacturing, by drawing out a function decomposition tree of specific products, different designers who design the same products could well understand the original design rational. It will have a good guide for redesigning products.
