Communication based guidance radar signal processing technology is used to control the missile's flight path to achieve guidance purposes through exchanging information between own missiles and radar. In this paper, the following three research areas are addressed:(1) Design proper communication process and waveform parameters to enhance the ability of information extracting, (2) Apply spread-spectrum communication technology to get good anti-interference and hidden ability, also solve the direct sequence spread spectrum signal decoding, (3) Utilize correct and effective signal processing algorithms to achieve the entire communication process. The correctness of algorithms is verified through simulation results, and the communication process is implemented on the hardware platform.Firstly, based on system design, the communication process is given, and communication waveform parameters are designed, also the spreading codes are properly selected. Then we focus on the communication signal processing algorithms in guidance radar, including 2DPSK modulation/demodulation, bandpass sampling, pulse compression using matched filtering and selected correlation in frequency domain, CFAR processing and so on. The mathematical expressions of pulse compress loss and mainlobe to sidelobe ratio (MSR) considering Doppler frequency are derived, which quantitatively describes the compress loss and deterioration of MSR caused by Doppler shift. Meanwhile, the correctness of the algorithm is proved by simulations under the MATLAB environment. Finally, the communication signal processing is implemented based on XC5VFX70T FPGA hardware platform.The results of the hardware test indicate that the communication processes and waveform parameters are reasonable, and the signal processing algorithms are effective. The information exchanging between own missiles and radar are achieved. The utilization of spread spectrum technology reduces the transmit signal power spectral density, and improves noise immunity and concealment.
