NGImeetings is a powerful video conferencing system, which is developed by Beijing Jiaotong University National Engineering Laboratory for Next Generation Internet Interconnection Devices (NGIID) based on web software technology in the current context of rapid development of multimedia network communication technology. NGImeetings supports a variety of functions such as audio and video communication, whiteboard, text chat, document conversion and desktop sharing.As the expansion of application scale, the single-server mode of NGImeetings system gradually exposes its shortcomings such as low efficiency, small user capacity and poor scalability. As for this problem, our research is intended to optimize the NGImeetings'service architecture.Firstly, we analyzed the research background and development trends of video conferencing technology, grasped the general idea of how to optimize the video conferencing architecture. Besides, we introduced some related knowledge including video conferencing, service cluster' and cloud computing and made the foundation for subsequent research.Secondly, based on the in-depth study of NGImeetings system architecture, communication platform and the service process, combined with the appropriate needs analysis, we proposed the NGImeetings Cluster, which is a high-reliable framework based on load balancing. NGImeetings Cluster consists of three functional components named Cluster Dispatch Node, Cluster Communication Node and Cluster Service Node. The specific functions of this system are achieved by related software. In addition to providing video conferencing services, this system integrates some mechanisms such as load balancing, failover, dynamic management of cluster nodes and shared data.Thirdly, we realized the migration of the completed NGImeetings Cluster to the cloud computing platform. Compared to the traditional methods of resource allocation, the cloud-based NGImeetings Cluster greatly reduces IT costs, and has better scalability and higher resource utilization.Finally, we tested the cloud-based NGImeetings Cluster system, the results showed that this system can work normally in the cloud platform and have a good service performance. The successful design and implementation of this scheme not only optimizes the video conferencing system architecture, which could work effectively in high-load and large-scale network environment, but also makes a practice of cloud computing service deployment, which made a good foundation for subsequent research on the cloud computing platform.
