At present, relative to the rapid development of microwave band wireless communication technology and sophisticated lightwave band wired communication technology, terahertz, as a whole new band between microwave and lightwave, has not yet been fully developed. On the other hand, wireless communication for higher data rate and broader bandwidth is more and more demanding, but the low data rate and narrow bandwidth of microwave communication can not meet the needs for future high speed and broadband communication. Under this circumstances, terahertz communication inevitably becomes the main force in the development of future wireless field. In this dissertation, advanced terahertz devices and communication technology are combined to model and simulate the whole terahertz communication system both in the aspect of using arrayed waveguide grating to produce continuous low frequency terahertz wave and the aspect of using photoconductive antenna stimulated by optical pulse to produce a broadband terahertz wave. The output power of transmission system, the power compression and the error rate of transmission signal, and the frequency response through the system are analysed. Besides, based on the simulation analysed above as well as the laboratory equipment, a pulse and broadband terahertz communication system under physical environment has been successfully set up under the technology of photoconductive antenna. Switch signals with slow frequencies have been successfully transmitted through this system. From the data analysis, this system has advantages of strong anti-noise and high stability.
