Because of the limited storage of data and the shortcoming of easy reproduction, the Magnetic Stripe Card can no longer satisfy the diverse applications of financial industry. Compared with the Magnetic Stripe Card, the smart IC card of PBOC not only possesses advantages of high safety and the difficulty of sensitive data copied, but also owns huge capacity for storing the key, digital certificate, fingerprints and other information, and so on. In addition, the smart IC card of PBOC also can provide many intelligent applications, such as the identity authentication, member management and reward points management, except for the basic financial functions. The officials from UNIONPAY indicate that in the future UNIONPAY will actively prompt to apply the smart IC card of PBOC to more implications such as cards issuance, public transportation and tickets and together with the combination of commercial banks and other industrial departments and so on in order to promote the popularization and application of the standard bank IC card and afford more convenient, safer and higher efficiency service for the card holder's life. Therefore, the smart IC card of PBOC will become the main medium of financial application instead of the Magnetic Stripe Card.Under the background of the migration of the smart IC card of PBOC in China, this paper bring up the hardware design of the canteen vending machine terminal based on the smart cards of PBOC.(1)Firstly, the paper make an overall introduction about system architecture and a general analysis about system functions.(2)Secondly, the paper mainly introduces the selection of chips, the design of circuit diagram and PCB, the transplantation ofμC/OS-Ⅱand the programming of drivers. The terminal is composed of ARM control module, power management module, MCU module, LCD and Key module and QPBOC reader module. he hardware part includes the design of circuit diagram and PCB; The terminal appoints STR711(ARM7 Core) as the main controller and controls the LCD and Key by connecting the ATMEL microcontroller module through I2C serial. The RC531 is the main chip of the QPBOC reader moduie. The RC531 possess the character of operating the contactless PBOC cards that support both TYPE A and TYPE B protocols, internal drivers circuit of antenna, up to 10 CM operation distance. According to the characters, it completely satisfies the application on the canteen vending machines. The software part mainly includes the transplantation of embedded operation and the programming of drivers. The paper detailed introduces the transplantation procedure aboutμC/OS-II based on ARM7 and the implementation of drivers.(3)Finally, The feasibility of the design is confirmed by the functional test aimed at the hardware circuit and the drivers.The design provides the hardware design and the function interfaces of terminals for application development. The application programs can easily be achieved by calling lower-level API functions. After the functional test about the hardware circuit and the drivers, it validates that the design can satisfy the requirements of canteen vending machine terminal about the hardware.
