Wireless sensor network is deployed in the monitoring area of mutual cooperation of many tiny sensor nodes form a self-organizing network, its role is perceived, acquisition and processing within the network coverage area to be monitored objects. It combines an embedded technology, microelectronic technology, distributed information processing technology and wireless communication technology. In telemedicine, hazardous area environmental monitoring, agricultural and industrial control, military defense and many other areas have a wide range of applications. Wireless sensor network node turned around the core technology of positioning technology as one of the most critical technology, the wireless sensor node localization algorithm is of very great significance.Wireless sensor network nodes were divided into a known location of the beacon nodes and unknown location of the node. The information transfer of unknown node through the network. Wireless sensor network node positioning algorithm in accordance with the need to measure the actual distance between nodes is divided into the range-based localization algorithm and range-free localization algorithm. Range-based localization algorithm due to the need for additional devices to the higher hardware requirements, it is difficult to achieve, not conducive to cost savings. Range-free localization algorithm does not need additional devices measure the distance between nodes, the network topology information using only the unknown node location can be achieved. DV-Hop localization algorithm is range-free localization algorithm, but also the research focus of this article. This paper summarizes the main work now is as follows:(1)Briefly describes the wireless sensor network research background and research status, analysis of the characteristics of wireless sensor networks, structure, key technologies and their applications.(2)Discusses the wireless sensor node localization of the basic concepts, basic calculation methods and algorithm performance evaluation. A detailed analysis of several existing node localization algorithm is the basic principle source of error, the performance of their proposed location algorithm problems to be solved.(3)Finally, for wireless sensor networks DV-Hop algorithm is computationally intensive, low precision. This paper presents a new method: This method is based on hop count information to estimate the beacon nodes and the distance between nodes, and use that distance for positioning. Simulation results demonstrate the beacon nodes in the node to estimate the distance and positioning accuracy, the performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional DV-Hop algorithm.
