Vehicle driving simulator is the simulation equipment which can provide correct driving response and feeling as well as driving real vehicle. There are two types of vehicle driving simulator:training-oriented driving simulator and development-oriented driving simulator. Training-oriented driving simulator is used for driving training. Development-oriented driving simulator is important tool that used to develop or improve vehicle product effectively. As an important part of vehicle driving simulator, steering simulation system can imitate actual steering force feeling to enhance the fidelity and immersion of vehicle driving in simulator. Combining the needs of project, this thesis do research and develop steering simulation system.In the first chapter, the characters, applications and research status of vehicle driving simulator and steering simulation system was introduced. Finally, research background and main research contents of thesis was presented.In the second chapter, the character of actual steering system was analyzed, and developed steering simulator system that can imitate actual steering force feeling, include selection of devices and design of structure.In the third chapter, the control system of steering simulator system was designed. Appropriate CPU was chose, and the external circuit was designed base on TMS320F2812 DSP. The software of control system was programmed, including processing the signal of device and communication between DSP and PC.In the fourth chapter, this thesis takes vehicle mechanical steering system as research object, analyzed mathematical model of steering aligning torque, and established the mathematical function between steering aligning torque and steering wheel angle with vehicle speed. Then, the vehicle model was established in ADAMS/Car, and according to the result of simulation in ADAMS/Car, parameter of function was determined.In the fifth chapter, because of the phenomenon of instability in the process of steering wheel return to center, the model of steering simulation system was established in Simulink, the control strategy when steering wheel return to center was researched. And then analyzed the result of actual experiment.In the sixth chapter, the research work was summarized, and the possible research in future is presented.
