Guided-mode resonance filter (GMRF) is a kind of optical device which is made based on the diffraction characteristic of the sub-wavelength grating. Since the guided-mode resonance effects have been proposed, the guided-mode resonance filters attained a lot of attention and got research widely. Optical filter plays a very important role in optical communication systems device, especially sub-wavelength devices for integrating. Today, Communications and Internet have a explosive growth. Such as cloud computing and to the4G mobile communications development, which all requirement a more wide bandwidth. In order to break the bandwidth limit, people still put their hopes on the optical network. Among them, the use of guided-mode resonance filter has a bright future. In this paper, firstly one-dimensional guided-mode resonance filter characteristics were studied and involved device were design; Then the methods for analyzing either two-dimensional and three-dimensional diffraction gratings and non-polarized guided-mode resonance filter were studied. This thesis work and innovations are as follows:1,In this paper, programs written based on rigorous coupled-wave analysis were used for analyzing characteristics of one-dimensional guided-mode resonance filter. Resonance wavelength, modulation-field intensity changes were studied and included as: the field in modulation area changed with the resonance linewidth inversely; Whatever the parameters of single diffraction grating waveguide structure rise or decrease, the resonance wavelength shift to long-wavelength, these conclusions have been organized into articles accepted by Optik which is indexed by SCI.2,Lots of program written with the design of a variety of optical components with special functions were designed by use of programs mentioned above and genetic algorithm:a high-efficiency fiber-coupled devices; a non-polarized guided-mode resonance filter; a kind of authentication and identification system based on the structure of subwavelength diffraction grating and has applied for patent (Publication Number:CN102034077A).3,a variety of methods for analyzing on optical devices of three-dimensional diffraction, programs were expanded for analyzing on multilayer grating structure by derivation of theory of more stability and convergence method.4,Through reading a lot of literatures and comparing the research on non-polarized GMRF, concluded that the three-dimensional waveguide grating structure is more suitable for the design of non-polarizing filter; pointed out that the design of three-dimensional non-polarized GMRF is not a easy job, because of there is no ideal method suitable for programming running on the desktop computer.
