As a key component in the phase processing of a microwave signal in the optical domain, microwave photonic phase shifter has drawn much attention from national research institutions. Microwave photonic phase shifter is mainly used in optically controlled phased array radar system, to provide phase compensation for each antenna array element to form a beam network, to achieve the predetermined position of the scanning. MWPPS has played an increasingly important role in the military, satellite communications, and mobile communications, aerospace and other fields. In this dissertation, a variety of microwave photonic phase-shifting technique schemes based on the novel photonic devices are proposed.In this dissertation, a new microwave photonic phase-shifting scheme based on vector-sum technique is proposed. The purpose of microwave phase shifter is achieved by adjusting the variable beam splitter. MATLAB is used to simulate microwave photonic phase shifter for microwave signal amplitude and phase shift response, and the experiment platform is set up to verify the feasibility of microwave photonic phase shifter based on vector-sum technique.This dissertation also introduces the structure and principles of the new photonic device DPMZM. And two different schemes are proposed on the basis of DPMZM:1. A microwave photonic phase shifter based on the suppression of the optical carrier single-sideband modulation mode.2. A microwave photonic phase shifter based on FBG modulation band side filtering. These two schemes are both based on heterodyne mixing of technical principles. The dissertation firstly introduce the system architecture and principle of the microwave photonic phase shifter based on the suppression of the optical carrier single-sideband modulation mode, verify the feasibility by experiments, point out the deficiencies of the scheme and propose the improved measure. And then the dissertation also introduce the system architecture and principle of the microwave photonic phase shifter based on FBG modulation band side filtering, and verify of the feasibility by experiments. At last the results show that the microwave phase shifter based on FBG band side filtering has strong feasibility and practicality. It can achieve a large bandwidth of microwave photonic phase shifter, large phase-shifter range (360°) and the stability of the microwave power requirements.
