Twenty-first Century is perceptual consumption era which characteristics is high-tech and emotional consumption, consumers pay less attention on products function than before,but they are more and more interesting in product image perception and emotional experience.Designers are facing some questions,such as how to know the changes of consumers' demand, how to satisfy consumers' emotional demand, how to design the products that meet consumer emotional demand accuratly and efficiently. Take this as the turning point, the handheld GPS design project was researched as an example to help enterprises to establish an effective design method,it can help them to make the establishment of information link between development process of new products and consumer's perceptual demands,so that the designers can find the target and design the product meet with consumers' perceptual image consistent.In this study, clustering and gray correlation theory of quantification are used with the foundation of kansei engineering theory and the method. After getting consumer' perceptual demand information of the handheld GPS, based on the existing product screening, and the elements of product design analysis, using system clustering method on consumers' perceptual demand information for classification. With the questionnaire and quantitative data processing, building two correlation matrixs of consumer emotional needs between product pansei evaluation,and product samples between product evaluation of Kansei words in groups. so the correlation matrix of consumers' perceptual demand information between existing product samples is got, and the use of gray system theory to analysis of various samples and the correlation between consumers' perceptual demand. Finally research the best product sample's design elements with the analysis of correlation spend, to guide new product concept.In addition, this paper introduces the analysis method used in handheld GPS design procedures and specific steps of implementation, and strongly verification the value of the research process and the results.
