Both personal communication techniques and markets develop quickly with the application application of LTE(Long Term Evolution), which leads to the demand of data services, like positioning services, remote education, remote office, on-line game, music download and mobile TV, etc[1]. As networks provide services from single data or voice services to comprehensive business, different types of services have different requirements of QoS, which lead to the competing relationship among a variety of services for the wireless resources. In this case, the resource scheduling\ to improve service quality and increase the spectral efficiency in the long-term evolution downlink has become a potential application and theoretical research focus. This paper focuses on the LTE downlink scheduling algorithm, the algorithm considers the user has a certain target rate range, and each user's target rate range can be different. So the situation that the high-flow users are limited has improved very well. In the first, this paper analyzes the background and current development of scheduling algorithm for the LTE system; In the second, describing the LTE standardization process, key technologies and related standards briefly; what's more, it studies several existed scheduling algorithms, compare their performance characteristics and application limitations; In the last, introducing a new algorithm and giving the relevant simulation results, we can see some improved performance. It indicates that this scheduling algorithm has its significance and superiority in the LTE system.
