The 16th Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou on 12th November, 2010. In order to establish a system of sound, powerful, integrated and digitalized information system to support games management, games result management, logistics management, secure network services, intelligent applications, electronic business, public information services, multi-language intelligent information services, secure video surveillance, emergency treatment and comprehensive command and scheduling, unified news releases, unified information portals, multi-functional unified information network platform, a dedicated network with a technologically advanced, safe, reliable, good services must be built up for the Asian Games.This article describes the applications of Asian Games, and a comprehensive research for application is carried out. Based on the characteristics and architecture of the application, the related functions and technologies of network are analyzed. According to user requirements for availability and security, it describes the entire Asian Games network design and implementation process. Firstly, the special nature of the Games network is understood. Secondly, the network architecture of Asian Games is presented, including the core network technology, hardware and software platform determination, network security protection. Finally, in accordance with specific design, network implementation is deployed. After platform deployment, system testing and technical rehearsal are carried out to verify whether the requirements are all fulfilled. Some risks are dig out and analyzed and the solutions are provided accordingly.Asian Games were very successful and all applications operated efficiently and effectively. The network platform played a very good supporting role, and was further verified that it could fulfill the expectation of users and applications.
