Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) has been a field of interest in the past years due to its unique character of self-creating,self-organizing, and self-administrating. As the Ad Hoc Networks get more attention, there are increasing demands to provide Internet connectivity to the Ad Hoc networks. However, when the Ad Hoc accessing to the Internet, there is so much overhead even broadcast storm that the communication can not be finished. So,it is necessary to reduce the overhead for Ad Hoc networks Accessing Internet.A new algorithm of overhead control for Ad Hoc networks accessing Internet is proposed. The proposed algorithm can be Divided into two parts:First is to reduce flooding broadcast message region, including the adaptive adjustment of circular radius of the gateway and the adaptive adjustment of circular interval of the gateway,in the adaptive adjustment of circular radius average hops of the previous cycle being adopted and in the adaptive adjustment of circular interval trigger conditions of P being adopted. In this way,the circular radius and the circular interval can be changed when the Ad Hoc Network changes,so the algorithm can be used in many different networks. The second is to reduce flooding of the transmitted packet number, this part the forwarding right of some nodes are controlled. The cost of the same message repeated in the network can be avoid,so the overhead has been reduced to the least. In the end, the NS2 simulator software is used to contrast the algorithm proposed in this article with the algorithm called maxmim coverage. The results show that the overhead has been reduced muchA little bit to the cost of Network delivery rate and Network packet delay.
