Wireless Sensor Network is integration of sensor techniques, nested computation techniques, distributed computation techniques and wireless communication techniques. It can be used to testing, sensing, collecting and processing information of monitored objects and transferring the processed information to users. In the wireless sensor network, the node's location information is essential to the sensor network monitoring activity. The position an incident occurred and the node's location information we accessed are critical information contained in the sensor node monitoring messages which will become meaningless without node's location information. Therefore, the research on the node location algorithm of the wireless sensor network is of great theoretical and practical significance.Based on the study of many related literatures, the research status of wireless location techniques and positioning systems for WSN is summarized. In this thesis, the principles and characteristics of related approaches on WSN are discussed and presented. The criterion of performance evaluation and algorithms, the taxonomy for wireless sensor networks localization systems are also described in the thesis. Then the thesis focuses on the investigation of DV-hop localization algorithm. Two improved node localization algorithms, network connectivity algorithm and weighted centroid algorithm. Two improved node localization algorithms are proposed, together with the discussion of algorithm principle and realization in Matlab simulation environment. Simulations show the two improved algorithms improve positioning accuracy and meet the shortfall of low positioning accuracy of DV-hop under low density of anchor nodes. Finally, we sum up the essay and prospect for the future research work.
