With high-voltage transmission lines in the grid more and more use, accurate fault location has become the power network operation, power management and experts and scholars pay close attention to the problem. High-voltage transmission line fault location is not only accurate and timely help to find and eliminate transmission line fault, the entire power network to ensure the security and stability, reduce the transmission line failure caused economic losses, but also to reduce the burden on line patrol officers, from grid technology to ensure safe and stable operation.This paper presents a new transmission line fault location system. When the transmission line fails, accurate collection and recording have failed to substation bus movement and zero-sequence current traveling waves and zero-sequence voltage wave occurred. The system uses the transmission line fault location algorithm is based on the finite difference method of fault location methods, simulation show that the algorithm has high accuracy and robustness. In this article, first introduced based on the finite difference method of transmission line fault location algorithm, then the algorithm using MATLAB simulation, the analysis algorithm accuracy and robustness. Finally, according to the actual needs analysis and design to achieve a transmission line fault location system that uses sensor data collected fault information, and through the GPS system for synchronous sampling. The system has high accuracy and easy operation a bit, in the power system has wide application prospect.
