In recent years, along with the world shipping industry prosperity, China followed the pace of the world developing in the field of ship construction, made a huge breakthrough, and ranked as one of the world's three major shipbuilding bases. Nowadays, whether from the number, type, or design complexity of ship, our country has greatly improved. However, some of the problems can not be ignored, we must face the facts that there is an increase in the number of shipwrecks caused by the problems of the hull structural safety each year.Analysed the needs of ship management, the reasons of the hull structural safety by the weak monitoring was summarized in this paper. The hull structure condition monitoring management information system on SQL Server 2000 database was designed and developed based on grating optical fiber communication technology, computer software technology. The hull structural strength information shared and real-time monitored was achieved by this system.Firstly, a comprehensive and detailed system requirements analysis and system performance analysis on this hull structure condition monitoring management information system was made in this paper. The overall scheme of the system design, the system workflow and the subsystem functions were also developed in this paper. Then, the database technology was used to develop the hull structure condition monitoring management information system logic development, E-R diagrams drawing and the establishment of data tables. The SQL Server 2000 database software was used to establish the background data warehouse to store the hull structural strength data. The Visual C++ 6.0 application software was used to develop the system front interface to achieve the data query, edit, display and other functions. Finally, the system by connecting an external grating fiber sensor received real-time information of the hull structural safety to achieve the real-time monitoring. After the system design and development work, the developer used a large number of experimental data to verify the data processing capabilities and use the vehicle experiment to verify the real-time monitoring capabilities. Through all this verification experiment proved that the hull structure condition monitoring management information system developed in this paper reached the functional requirements well.
