The undersea tunnel is a very safe all-weather strait tunnel, which doesn't occupy space and doesn't hinder the voyage and doesn't influence the ecological environment. However, it not only brings great convenience and wealth to people, but also has some risks, for example, it is likely to cause great economic losses, even catastrophic consequences. Therefore, the health monitoring of undersea tunnel is very important. In order to achieve the safe monitoring of undersea tunnel, the subject has developed a new type of fiber bragg grating displacement sensor, which was tested through the undersea tunnel model to verify its performance.The paper firstly introduces the background of fiber bragg grating, the application of displacement sensor, then presents a scheme about safety monitoring for the undersea tunnel using fiber bragg grating displacement sensing based on fiber bragg grating sensing technology. The scheme adopts the fiber bragg grating as sensing component and WDM technology to realize the on-line monitoring for changes of surrounding rock in underseal tunnel.After all aspects of preparation and the research of undersea tunnel project, according to the requirement of the project, this paper has designed the corresponding hardware system which mainly includes design of fiber bragg grating displacement sensors, embedding of sensors in the tunnel model test and installation of demodulation system.This paper introduces the production process of the undersea tunnel model, excavation process of undersea tunnel, and signal monitoring for fiber bragg grating displacement sensors in the entire process.The software of this system mainly discusses the realization of fiber bragg grating displacement sensing network in undersea tunnel and introduces the real-time curve monitoring, data storage and query of historical data. The system has carried on long-term operational in the field and the results show that the system is stable and reliable, good effect.
